CranioRate is a novel, machine-learning-powered platform that brings objectivity and precision to craniosynostosis assessment.
Learn MoreCraniosynostosis, the premature fusion of cranial sutures, affects approximately 1 in 2,500 infants. Clinical decisions about its severity and treatment have historically been based on subjective judgment, posing challenges for surgical planning and family counseling.
CranioRateTM was developed to meet this challenge head-on. As a novel, machine-learning-powered platform, our tools generate reproducible severity scores from imaging data (CT and 3D photography). This enables researchers and clinicians to better understand morphology, support surgical planning, counsel families, and evaluate outcomes over time with objective, precision data.
Our platform is built on four core principles:
Based on large datasets and machine learning.
Incorporating multiple cranial types and severity indicators.
Streamlined upload and scoring process.
Built with input from practicing craniofacial teams.
CranioRate is built to serve the needs of a diverse set of users:
Access structured phenotype data for multicenter studies, registries, and advanced analytics.
Use reproducible severity metrics to guide preoperative planning, intraoperative choices, and postoperative evaluation.
Empower informed decision-making through visualizations and understandable, data-driven communication.
Track surgical and non-surgical treatment effectiveness over time with quantifiable metrics.
Real-world use cases for the CranioRate platform include:
Comparing preoperative and postoperative cranial morphology
Benchmarking surgical outcomes across centers
Supporting shared decision-making during patient consults
Publishing high-impact research using standardized, objective shape data
With each use, CranioRate helps transform individual care while building a collective understanding of craniosynostosis.
